In line with the visionary goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched the “Malaviya Mission”. This comprehensive capacity-building program aims to transform the educational landscape by focusing on the all-round development of 1.5 million teachers within higher education institutions. The main objective of the Malviya Mission is to instill moral values and promote a holistic approach towards education, thereby ensuring equitable development for teachers and students.
Malviya’s key mission areas include several aspects such as Indian knowledge systems, educational leadership, effective governance, research, skill enhancement, inclusive practices, technology integration, identification of learning outcomes and assessment methods. What is Malviya Mission?
Honorable Prime Minister launched the Central Sector Scheme “Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNT)” in 2014. The program provided funding for faculty capacity building training in HEIs by utilizing and leveraging existing resources.
Malviya Mission is designed to comprehensively address all issues related to teacher training/capacity building and professional development of faculty in CUs, IITs, State Universities, NITTTR, IISERs, NITs, Deemed Universities and centrally funded HEIs. Was. Later, on 5 September 2023, MM TTP (Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme) was launched to launch a unique and exclusive training scheme for teachers.
What is the full form of MM-TTP?
MM-TTP stands for Malviya Mission Teacher Training Programme. Its objective is to provide tailored training programs for teachers. This program will work for capacity building of faculty members in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). As a part of the Malviya Mission, 111 institutions have been identified. These centers will be called Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centers (MMTTC).

Malaviya Mission and its objectives
MM TTP, popularly known as Malviya Mission Teacher Training Programme, has some underlying objectives. These objectives have been set while launching the scheme. Its objective is to improve the quality of education and overall goodwill of teachers.
- To improve the standards of education at all levels by promoting excellence and quality in our teachers.
- To create state-of-the-art institutional infrastructure and innovative teaching strategies in all aspects of higher education.
- To provide training related to pedagogy and enhance practical and soft abilities of faculty members.
- To ensure holistic development of teachers and students while instilling moral principles and other aspects of Indian culture.
- Enhance critical and interdisciplinary thinking skills.
- To introduce the faculty to Indian knowledge systems.

What benefits can teachers get from Malviya Mission?
Teachers across the country, targeted under the program of Malviya Mission, will get and are getting benefits on a large scale. Some of the benefits are highlighted below. It is important to understand the importance that MM TTP has given to teachers or teachers.
- The program will run for two weeks and will be delivered online. With this structure, teachers from across the country can participate and benefit from the training.
- Holistic and multidisciplinary education, Indian Knowledge System (IKS), academic leadership, governance and management, higher education and society, research and development, skill development, student diversity and inclusive education, and information and communication technology will be the eight subjects that will be in the training. The focus will be on the program.
- Malviya Mission will integrate capacity building into the credit structure to provide career advancement options for teachers. This shows the importance of ongoing professional development.
- The objective of the program is to improve the quality of teacher preparation, prepare them for the future and provide leadership capabilities to the participants in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP).

Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Program – Result
The Malaviya Mission program will begin with teachers receiving training to provide holistic education while inculcating India-centric principles and human values. Both teachers and students will learn about the Indian Knowledge System and use it to advance and build knowledge in the real world. Students’ ability to produce new concepts and materials through the use of cross- and multidisciplinary thinking will be monitored.
