Some eligibility criteria have been fixed to apply under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme of the Government of India. According to this, the age of the applicant should be less than 70 years. There should not be any house or flat in the name of the applicant or any member of his family. The applicant should not have taken any kind of government exemption for purchasing the house, the ownership of the house should either be in the name of a woman, or there should be only men in the family.

Apart from this, the maximum annual income of the applicant’s family should not be more than Rs 18 lakh. For this, the applicant has been divided economically into four different parts. These include Economically Weaker Section (EWS) whose annual total income is less than Rs 3 lakh. Low Income Group (LIG) – Those whose annual income is Rs 3 lakh to Rs 6 lakh annually. Middle Income Group-1 (MIG-I) – Rs 6 lakh to Rs 12 lakh per annum and Middle Income Group-2 (MIG-II) – Rs 12 lakh to Rs 18 lakh per annum. However, government assistance for repair or improvement of house is provided only to EWS or LIG category.

How to register under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
- All of you can register yourself in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana through online medium.
- To register yourself under the scheme, first of all the applicant must register with the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. official website will go on. Or its direct link is also given below.
- Here, after coming to the home page of the website, you will have to select the option “Benefit under other 3 components” under the “Citizen Assessment” menu.
- After this you will have to enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number and name.
- After verification of Aadhaar number, you will have to enter important information like your personal information, income and bank statement on the PMAY application page that opens.
- After this, you have to tick the I am aware of… checkbox and enter the captcha.
- After this you have to click on the save button.
- The system generated application number that appears after this will have to be saved for future.
- Now you have to download the filled PMAY application form and take a print out of it.
- After this, you will have to go to your nearest Common Service Center (CSC) or financial institutions/banks and submit the application form along with the necessary documents.
- After this, you can track the status of your PMAY application online on the same website through Assessment ID, or name, father’s name and mobile number.
- In this way you can get yourself registered under the housing scheme.
