SSC CHSL Eligibility 2025, Age Limit and Education Qualification


To select eligible candidates for the vacancies of Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), and Data Entry Operator (DEO) posts, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts two examinations known as Combined Higher Secondary Will conduct level examination. Level Examination (CHSL). People who want to get a job for these roles have to fulfill certain eligibility criteria specified by SSC. Online registration will start from 27th May to 25th June 2025 at www.ssc.gov.in. Before applying, candidates should consider the SSC CHSL Eligibility 2025, including age limit, age relaxation educational criteria, citizenship requirements and recommendations for physically challenged candidates.

SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria 2025

Staff Selection Commission is responsible to appoint 12th passed candidates for higher secondary posts in various departments and offices of Government of India through Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) examination. The commission determines the SSC CHSL 2025 eligibility for selection of candidates for various posts. The Commission sets certain specific parameters to fulfill the eligibility requirements which are mentioned below:

  • Educational qualification
  • physical disability

SSC CHSL Age Limit 2025

Candidates who are interested to join in Age should be between 18 to 27 years for SSC CHSL 2025. Only those candidates who fall between this age group will be allowed to appear in the further examination otherwise they will be directly disqualified. Check out some important points and the table below.

  • Age will be determined using the date of birth given in the online application form and the Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate. Change requests will not be considered.

  • The time of an ex-call-up soldier will count against the service requirement for age relaxation.

The exam conducting authorities also provide certain age relaxation beyond the upper age limit for people belonging to special categories like SC/ST, OBC etc. The table given below gives age relaxation for all categories of people.

Central Government Civilian Employees: With at least three years of regular and continuous service as on the last date of accepting online applications (SC/ST). till the age of 40
Central Government Civilian Employees: Who have served for at least three years on regular and continuous basis as on the last date of online application (SC/ST). till the age of 45
Women who are widowed, divorced, or judicially separated and have not remarried. till the age of 35
Women who are widowed, divorced, or judicially separated and have not remarried (SC/ST). till the age of 40

SSC CHSL Education Qualification 2025

SSC CHSL 2025 eligibility requirements specify the basic educational qualifications that must be fulfilled by the candidates to become eligible for this post. In the table given below, educational requirements for various posts under SSC CHSL are given.

For LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ (except DEO in Department/Ministry) Eligibility: 10+2 Science stream with Mathematics as a compulsory subject, or its equivalent from any recognized board.

SSC CHSL Eligibility 2025 Certain conditions for nationality must be fulfilled to be eligible for the exam. To become eligible for the Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination, candidates must belong to the specified nationality and must provide proof of the same. Candidates must belong to one of the following nationalities to take the exam:

A candidate may either:

  • resident of India, or
  • a subject of Nepal, or
  • a subject of Bhutan or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India for permanent settlement before January 1, 1962,
  • A person of Indian heritage who has come to India from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, East African Republic of Kenya, United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda, Zaire, Ethiopia, Zambia, Malawi and Vietnam to settle permanently.
