Fastag has become an important part of electronic toll collection in India. This system allows drivers to make without stopping and cashless payments at toll plazas. Fastag New Rule 2025: Main Change
Many significant changes have been made in the new rules which came into force from 17 February 2025. Below is a list of these changes:
- Doubling toll charge on blacklisted fastag: If your fastag is blacklisted and you do not update it, you have to pay double toll charge.
- 70 minutes of grace period: Now users will be given 70 minutes to fix Fastag status.
- Additional fee on late transactions: If the toll fee takes more than 15 minutes to deduct, additional fee will be levied.
- Change in chargeback process: Banks will get a 15 -day cooling period in cases of wrong deduction.
- 10 minute window: If the fastag is recharged within 10 minutes after the scan, the penalty refund can be requested.

To avoid trouble under the new rules, keep in mind the following things:
- Maintain a balanced balance: Always keep enough balance in your fastag wallet.
- Check the status: Before the journey, make sure that your fastag is not blacklisted.
- Update KYC: Keep updating your KYC details from time to time.
- Monitor the transaction time: Keep checking the transaction time to identify any delay.
Impact of new rules
The purpose of these rules is to make toll payment more smooth and dispute free. But on not following them:
- You may have to give double toll.
- The recharge facility will end at the last minute.
- The trip may be interrupted when there is a blacklisted tag.
