UPSC ESE Notification 2025 Released for 232 Vacancies, Online Form Begins

Union Public Service Commission released the notification PDF for UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) on 18 September 2024 on its official website https://upsc.gov.in/. Candidates who have graduation and diploma in engineering can apply online for the 232 vacancies released for four departments. The online application window has been made available from 18th September 2024 and candidates interested in these engineering posts must apply before the last date i.e. 8th October 2024.

Every year, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2025 and this year, 232 vacancies have been released for various departments. UPSC ESE 2025 Important Dates

Candidates must note down some important dates like exam date, last date to fill the application etc. to avoid any problem in filling the form and preparing for the exam. Below are the important dates for UPSC ESE 2025.

UPSC ESE Vacancies 2025

Through the UPSC ESE Notification 2025, the Union Public Service Commission has released 232 vacancies for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical-Electronics and Telecommunication departments. Out of the 232 applications, 17 are reserved for 12 vacancies for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) (7 vacancies for locomotor disability, which includes leprosy, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy, and 5 vacancies for hearing impairment). The vacancies for various categories and sub-categories are yet to be released.

UPSC ESE 2025 Application Fee

UPSC ESE 2025 has an application fee that applicants have to pay as part of the application process. As per the official notification of UPSC ESE 2025, the candidate has to pay Rs 200. There is no fee for Female/SC/ST/PwBD. Candidates can pay the fee in both online mode and offline mode (cash). The way to pay offline is to click on “Cash Payment”, and then take the given slip with the fee to the nearest SBI.

Steps to Apply for UPSC Engineering Services Exam 2025

Before filling the exam form candidates must have all the important documents for verification of date of birth, educational qualification, age etc. Candidates can follow the below steps to download UPSC ESE 2025.

1. First of all go to the official website of UPSC https://upsc.gov.in/.
2. Then click on “Recruitment” above.
3. Scroll down and click on “Online Recruitment Application”.
4. Then click on “New Registration” in the opened window.
5. Then fill all the required details like name, father’s name, category, nationality etc.
6. After this it will ask about the documents that are to be uploaded on the website, keep their copies ready and upload them.
7. Finally pay the fee and download the application form for future reference.

Documents Required to Fill UPSC ESE Online Form 2025

Candidates have to upload some required documents, they have to keep their soft copy ready before filling the form. The following self-attested documents are required to fill the UPSC ESE 2025 form.

1. Age certificate.
2. Candidate’s photograph (clicked within 7 days with name and date).
3. Certificate of educational qualification.
4. Certificate in support of claim of belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), wherever applicable.
5. Certificate in support of claim for age/fee concession, wherever applicable.

UPSC ESE 2025 Eligibility Criteria

UPSC ESE 2025 is being conducted for Group A and Group B engineering services across India. UPSC ESE 2025 is being conducted for four categories, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication. Eligibility criteria for each category in terms of educational qualification, nationality and age limit. Below are the details about the minimum eligibility criteria for each.

UPSC ESE Educational Qualification

The minimum qualifications a candidate must possess to appear for UPSC ESE 2025. The minimum qualifications should be at least this, and it is important to know them. The minimum educational qualification for UPSC ESE 2025 is to have a degree in engineering from a university or a degree/diploma in engineering from such foreign university/college/institute recognized by the government.

Note: The minimum educational qualification for Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering posts) is M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics, or Radio Engineering as a special subject. The minimum educational qualification for Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group “A” is M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics, or Radio Engineering as a subject or Master of Science in Physics and Radio Communication or Electronics or Telecommunication as a special subject.

UPSC ESE Nationality

UPSC ESE 2025 has prescribed some eligibility for different nationalities. Since UPSC ESE 2025 can be given by some other nationalities apart from Indians. For UPSC ESE 2025, the candidate must be one of the following:

1. citizen of india
2. A topic from Nepal
3. A subject of Bhutan
4. A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 and intends to settle permanently in India
5. Any person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia.

UPSC ESE Age Limit (as on 01/01/2025)

UPSC ESE 2025 Selection Process

As per the official notification, candidates have to clear three stages of UPSC ESE 2025 to get selected for Group A and Group B engineering services. The three stages for UPSC ESE 2025 are as follows.

1. Stage 1: UPSC ESE Preliminary Exam
2. Second Stage: UPSC ESE Main Exam
3. Third Stage: Personality Test

UPSC ESE 2025 Exam Pattern

In UPSC ESE exam, the exam pattern is different for each stage, the candidate should know about the exam pattern for each stage in detail. UPSC ESE 2025 has negative marking in MCQ-based exam for both prelims and mains exam. 1/3 or 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong MCQ. Stage 1 (Preliminary) Exam

UPSC ESE 2025 has two papers for the first stage or preliminary examination.
