Uchchatar Shiksha Scholarship Scheme has been started by the Central Government for the students studying in colleges and universities, under which scholarships up to Rs 20,000/- are being provided every year for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. To avail the benefits of this scheme, the government selects 82,000/- students every year, information related to which is being given further in the article.

Prime Minister Higher Education Scholarship Scheme

Prime Minister Higher Education Scholarship Scheme has been started by the Higher Education Department of the Central Government. The main and primary objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance for higher education to the promising students coming from economically poor families in the country.

Under the scheme, a scholarship of Rs 12,000/- per year is provided for undergraduate and its equivalent courses and Rs 20,000/- per year for postgraduate and other degree courses of this level. Eligibility conditions have been determined for the students to avail the benefits of the scheme, which we will discuss further in the article.

Benefits of Higher Scholarship Scheme

Under the Higher Education Scholarship Scheme of the Central Government, a scholarship of Rs 12,000 is provided for three years for graduation, but if it is a professional course, after three years, a scholarship of Rs 20,000/- is provided every year for the next 2 years.

basis of selection

Under the Higher Education Scholarship Scheme of the Government of India, the shortlist for selection of beneficiaries at the graduation level is made on the basis of class 12 marks. To apply for the scheme, the minimum marks of the applicant student in class 12 have been fixed at 80%. After the application, 82,000/- beneficiaries are selected every year as per the rules of the scheme.

Hence, among the applicant students who have scored above 80% marks, the students coming from top to 82,000/-th rank are selected as the final beneficiaries. The same process applies to students applying at postgraduate level. For these, marks obtained at graduation level are considered to be the basis of short list.

• For higher education scholarship, the student must be a native of India.
• The student should be studying regularly in a college or university recognized by the Central Government, State Government or local body.
• To apply for scholarship at graduation level, a student must have obtained at least 80% marks in class 12.
• Graduation marks will be considered as the basis for postgraduate level and for this the student should be a regular student.
• It is mandatory for the student to have more than 75% attendance in the class.
• At the economic level, the annual income of the student’s family should not exceed Rs 4.50 lakh.
• Student income is also included in the total annual income. (if any income)

• Open the National Scholarship Portal.
• Create your new account here through New Registration and get ID password.
• Login with the created ID password.
• Go to the Centralized Scholarship Schemes section and select PM Uchchatar Shiksha Scholarship Yojana.
• Fill the online form of scholarship scheme and upload the documents.
• Check the form and submit it.
