Candidates can expect the declaration of CTET Result 2024 in January 2025. In this article, we will discuss all the relevant information and issues. Related to CTET Result 2024 and Normalization Process

CTET Normalization 2024-25

The CTET normalization process was previously implemented when the CTET exam was conducted in online mode or CBT mode. The online examination was conducted in multiple shifts over multiple days, hence, it is necessary to implement the normalization process to ensure fair and transparent results. However, since the CTET exam was shifted to offline mode (OMR sheets) on the same day, the need for the normalization process was considered inappropriate.

However, this year, the CTET exam 2024 was held on two days, December 14 and December 15, 2024. However, CTET Paper I was held only in the second shift on 14 December 2024, CTET Paper II was held in the first shift on both the days. shift. Therefore, there is a dire need for CTET normalization process 2024-25.

What is generalization?

Normalization is a process where values measured on different scales are adjusted to obtain rational results. This process should be adopted by CBSE to obtain normalized results for the candidates appearing in CTET offline examination for December 2024.

With the normalization process, it becomes easier and more adequate to evaluate the performance of the candidates appearing for the examination on a similar basis on balanced parameters. The difficulty level of each shift of the exam is considered and then a formula is applied to calculate the results. Normalization has already been adopted by other government exams like SSC for the same purpose.

Why is normalization expected in CTET exam 2024?

Since CTET Paper II is conducted on two different days, two different sets of question papers have been used for this exam. Thus, it can be said that the difficulty level of each question paper was always different from the other. However, CBSE in its official notice had said that the difficulty level and coverage of the syllabus for the questions in the CTET exam paper will be comparatively the same. However, the implementation of CTET normalization process ensures fair checking and transparent CTET Result 2024.

How does normalization affect the candidates’ scores?

The normalization process ensures that candidates are evaluated on a balanced parameter to ensure fairness to the candidates. However, the question is how can the normalization process affect the marks of the candidates?

Suppose, on some day the difficulty level of Paper-II is moderate to difficult (let’s call it Set-A), whereas, on another day the difficulty level of Paper-II is easy to moderate (let’s call it Set-B). Suppose the average score of the candidates who appeared for Set-A was 105 out of total 150 marks and for Set-B it was 125 out of total 150 marks.

This huge difference in scores is a result of different difficulty levels. Under the normalization process, a formula will be used to calculate the marks. In the formula, the marks obtained by the candidates and the actual number of valid questions in different sets are taken as inputs.

This way candidates will not have to depend on their luck for difficult or easy question paper sets. Therefore, the score of the candidates will not be affected by the difficulty level of any particular set.

Will CTET normalization process be implemented in CTET exam 2024-25?

Although the CTET normalization process is not necessary for offline examinations as most of them are conducted on a single day, there is one exception. Since Paper II was conducted over two days, there are high chances that CBSE will implement the CTET normalization process. However, there is no confirmation on the official notification regarding the implementation of the normalization process if the exam is held on more than one day.
