Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) is a necessary exam for candidates wishing to qualify for the post of Assistant Professor in Gujarat. - Educational Qualification:
- Master’s Degree Requirement: Candidates must have completed or be in the final year of a Master’s degree recognized by the UGC in a subject included in the list of subjects for GSET.
- Postgraduate Diploma and Degree: Candidates holding Postgraduate Diploma or Degree from Indian or Foreign Universities will have to verify the equivalence of their qualification with Master’s degree obtained from Indian Universities recognized through Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.
- Minimum Required Marks:
- General/Unreserved/General-EWS Candidates: Must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination from a UGC-recognized institution.
- SEBC/SC/ST/PWD/Third Gender candidates: Must have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in their Master’s degree or equivalent examination.
- Final Year Students: Candidates pursuing a master’s degree or those who have appeared in their final year exams and are awaiting results can apply for GSET. Such candidates will be admitted provisionally. They must complete their master’s degree with the required percentage of marks within two years from the date of declaration of GSET results. Failing to do so will disqualify them.
- Third Gender Category: Candidates belonging to the third gender category are eligible for relaxation in fee, age and eligibility criteria on the same basis as SC/ST categories. The cut-off for this category will be the lowest for SC/ST/PWD/SEBC-NCL categories in the respective subject.
- Ph.D. degree holdersCandidates with PhD degree who have completed their Master’s level examination upto 19th September 1991 are eligible for 5% relaxation (from 55% to 50%) in aggregate marks for GSET.
- Subject Requirement: Candidates must appear for GSET in the subject of their master’s degree. If the subject is not listed in the GSET subjects, candidates can opt to take the UGC NET / UGC – CSIR NET exam instead.
- Restrictions on reappearance: Candidates who have already qualified GSET in a subject cannot appear for the exam again in the same subject. Violation of this rule will result in cancellation of their candidature and GSET certificate.
- Submission of documents: Candidates are not required to send any certificates or documents to the GSET office along with their application form. They must ensure their eligibility and keep all relevant documents with them for verification.

gset age limit
