IBPS PO Syllabus 2024 and Exam Pattern for Prelims and Mains Exam


IBPS PO preliminary exam is scheduled to be held in October 2024. Given its competitive nature, candidates preparing for the IBPS PO 2024 exam must be familiar with the syllabus and exam pattern to improve their chances of success.

The IBPS PO recruitment process is conducted in three stages: Preliminary, Mains and Interview. Candidates have to qualify each stage to get selected.

To get selected as Probationary Officer (PO) in IBPS, candidates have to clear all the three stages of the examination. The final selection is based on the marks obtained in the main examination and interview. The weightage of main examination and interview is 80:20 respectively.

Exam Stage:

  1. preliminary examination
  2. main exam
  3. Interview

Exam Format:

  • Initial: Objective type examination of 100 marks
  • main: Objective and descriptive type examination for 225 marks
  • Interview: Personal interview round for 100 marks

Language of Examination: English or Hindi (English language paper will have to be solved in English)

  • Duration: 3 hours 30 minutes
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer
