Is CTET mandatory for DSSSB 2024 exam?

Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) conducts teaching recruitment examination for government schools of Delhi. The eligibility criteria are different for different teaching posts. Candidates who are preparing for TGT PGT PRT post in DSSSB Recruitment Exam must know about the detailed eligibility criteria. One of the frequently asked questions by aspiring teachers is whether Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is mandatory for DSSSB 2024 exam. In this article we will discuss this topic in detail.

What is CTET?

CTET full form is Central Teacher Eligibility Test, it is a national level entrance examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to evaluate the eligibility of candidates aspiring to become teachers in central government schools. The CTET exam is divided into two papers – Paper-I for primary level teachers (Class IV) and Paper-II for upper primary level teachers (Class VI-VIII).

As DSSSB is going to release more than 16000 teaching vacancies. DSSSB is going to release the eligibility criteria along with the notification for various posts. DSSSB official notification will specify the educational qualification, age limit and other criteria required for each post. For some teaching posts, DSSSB may specify that the candidate should qualify the CTET examination. However, this requirement is not mandatory for all DSSSB examinations.

DSSSB PRT 2024 Exam

A candidate who is preparing for Primary Teacher, Assistant Teacher Primary, or Assistant Teacher Nursery must have completed his/her educational qualification. Candidate must have passed 12th class examination with D.El.Ed course and must have qualified CTET Paper 1 examination. DSSSB Primary Teacher must qualify CTET Paper 1 to teach Class IV in school.

DSSSB TGT 2024 Exam

Candidates appearing for DSSSB TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) must have a Bachelor’s degree (Hons/Pass) from a recognized university or institute and must have qualified CTET Paper-II conducted by CBSE.

DSSSB PGT 2024 Exam

It is not mandatory for the candidates appearing in DSSSB PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) to have Master’s degree in the relevant subject, professional degree i.e. B.Ed and CTET Paper-II qualification. However, NCTE has announced that they will soon introduce CTET exam for PGT candidates also based on the recommendations made by NEP 2020.

Is CTET mandatory for DSSSB 2024 exam?

In conclusion, CTET qualification is not mandatory for all DSSSB exams as of now. However, for some teaching posts, DSSSB may specify that the candidate must qualify the CTET exam. Therefore, it is advised to check the official notification and eligibility criteria of the specific DSSSB exam you are interested in to know whether CTET qualification is mandatory or not.
