The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) will present a one -year Master of Education (M.ED) program in India starting in 2026. This step follows the recommendations of National Education Policy 2020 and will replace the current two-year M.Ed. Starting in 2026, the traditional two-year M.Ed courses will no longer be available, as all new entry will be directed towards small, more intensive programs.
This change will open new opportunities for educational institutions, especially aiming to align its programs with the latest educational guidelines launched by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in June 2024.
