Hindi grammar acts as primary language section in various TET and teaching recruitment exams, such as CTET, REET, and others. Additionally, Hindi Education has been included in some TET and teaching recruitment examinations, which focuses on the study of teaching methods, educational objectives and strategies to achieve language teaching goals in Hindi. The Hindi Education Section usually consists of application-based questions and is considered relatively straightforward.
Today, our theme of discussion is ‘reading skills’, which translates ‘reading skills’ in English. Language skills have significant importance in the realm of Hindi Education, as they are a recurring subject in most of the tate and teaching recruitment exams. In this session, we will change its definition, importance, objectives and types to the detailed understanding of ‘reading skills’.

Meaning of reading
The meaning of reading is by reading the content written and it is from to consume its meaning, stabilizing it (thinking, thought) on it and then behaving accordingly. That is, reading a written language, keeping in mind the meaning and emotion, is called reading skills.
The following things are included in the reading:
- To identify by looking at the symbol of sound.
- To create words using classes.
- Reading words into meaningful units and reading.
- Explain the ideas of reading material.
- Standing your intentions on reading materials.
The purpose of reading skills
- Recognizing and reading all the letters of the alphabet.
- Practicing students at a rapid pace.
- To develop the habit of Swadhyaya.
- To awaken confidence.
- To awaken concentration, readiness, interest in students.
- To be able to read with proper gestures.
- To activate visual senses.
- To develop the ability to clearly understand the author’s feelings.

Varna method
- In Varna method, the teacher writes each varna on a blackputt and pronounces it.
- Students look at the shape of the varna written on Shyampatt or published in the book and pronounce the varna while following the teacher.
- In this, students acquire knowledge of classes in order. In this method, the first tone, then dishes, then quantities and words are taught to read.
Word method
- In this method, words are introduced to children from the beginning.
- After this, knowledge of the existing classes is made in that word.
- To make the knowledge of words, the help of pictures, shows the teacher’s picture, pronounces his name written under the picture and students follow it.
- In this method, knowledge of vowels and cuisine is given in a systematic manner.
- It is a psychological, attractive and interesting method.
- In this method, teaching formulas are followed by ‘Full -to -part from part’, ‘from known to unknown and’ simple to difficult ‘etc.
Sentence method
- The sentence method is the expansion of the word method. The reading begins with the sentence. In this, the teacher presents the sentence by writing on the chart.
- The teacher reads the sentence and the students follow it.
- By reading the sentences repeatedly, the students become familiar with the words. After this, the words used in the sentence are placed in front of children in different order; Like- this is my home. This house is mine. This house is mine etc.
Phonetic method
- In the sound equilibrium method, only those words are placed in front of children whose sounds have similarity. Equal sound words are taught together. Such as tomorrow, walk, deceit, moment, fruit, tap, force, plow etc.
- In this method, repeated pronunciation of the same varna makes sufficient practice of sounds.
Poetry method
- Children have a natural interest in music. Keeping this in mind, poetry method was developed. Its process is like the method.
- This method contains a poem with simple sentences rather than the story. Children are singing poetry.
- Children gradually begin to recognize words and characters. After this, knowledge of classes is made in order.
Movies/ consistency method
- The association method was used by Montessori.
- In this method, pictures of substances coming in the experience border of the child are kept in the room or a tag is given on the wall etc.
- Children establish association/association in the names written on the names and cards written under the pictures.
- The teacher identifies the children by pronounced these words or varnas. Children learn to read active in sports and games.
Joint law
- None of the above methods is completely defect free. Therefore, the method in which good things are, should be taken. The method that can be taught properly can be taught by the same method. This mixed form is called joint method.
- Like- Look and say the method of identifying the varnas, by the phonetic method, by making many words from each letter, teaching the characters, reading the sentence can be taught by the story or sentence method.
Evaluation of reading skills
- Can the student recognize and read all sections of the alphabet?
- Can the student manufacture words with a combination of characters?
- Can the student read the sentences properly?
- Can the student recite poetry with proper rhythm?
- Does the student read all genres in a appropriate way?
- Can the student mean reading of reading?
- Does the student understand the meaning according to the context of idioms, proverbs and convenience?
- Can the student read with clear and pure pronunciation?
- Does the student read with gesture, ascension and furnace
- Can the student read with concentration?
- Can the student study keeping in mind the Yeti, Motion, Punctress etc.?
- Does the student understand the central sentiment of the read excerpt?
- Can the student control the number of listeners and the opportunity -friendly speech?
- Can the student choose facts, expressions and ideas from reading materials?
- Can the student tell the summary of reading material?
- Can the student answer questions asked from read materials?
- Can the student conclude from reading materials?
