Every year, lakhs of banking aspirants appear for the SBI Clerk Prelims and Mains exam to get shortlisted for the Junior Associate vacancies released in that particular year. For the year 2025-26, SBI has announced 14191 vacancies for which the last date for online registration is 7th January 2025. The tentative exam month has also been announced along with the official notification, which shows that the SBI Clerk preliminary exam will be conducted in this month. SBI Clerk Prelims Exam Date 2025
The first stage of the selection process for SBI Clerk Recruitment is the preliminary examination which is conducted for lakhs of candidates who have applied for the said vacancies this year. As per the schedule, the Prelims exam can be conducted in February 2025 and the admit cards will be released 7 to 10 days before the exam date. The preliminary examination can be conducted over 2 days and on each day, the examination will be conducted in 4 shifts (depending on the number of candidates applying). This stage will be qualifying in nature as Prelims is conducted only to shortlist the candidates for the main examination and the marks obtained will not be counted in the final merit list.
The preliminary exam will consist of 100 questions divided into Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language sections. Each correct answer will give 1 mark, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The total duration of the exam is 60 minutes (1 hour), with 20 minutes time limit allotted for each section.
SBI Clerk Main Exam Date 2025
For the candidates who have qualified the preliminary exam, SBI Clerk Main exam will be conducted tentatively in March-April 2025. The examination will be conducted either on one day or two days (depending on the number of candidates qualified in Prelims) and there will be only 2 shifts each day. This stage will be the final stage of the selection process, however, it will be followed by a local regional language test which will be qualifying in nature. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the main examination.
In SBI Clerk Mains, questions will be objective type and except the General English test, all sections will be bilingual i.e. English and Hindi. There will be negative marking of 1/4 marks for wrong answers in objective examinations. The duration of the exam is 2 hours 40 minutes and there will also be sectional timing for each section.
