With the aim of increasing the literacy level of women in the country and for educated women of rural areas to become partners in the insurance sector, Bima Sakhi Yojana has been launched from Haryana state from 9 December 2024 by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
While implementing this scheme at the national level, a target has been set for 3 years under which insurance agents will be made for more than 2 lakh women of the country and various types of insurance will be provided through them in rural areas.
According to the target, only 35000 women will be selected from among the women who applied in the initial year of Bima Sakhi Scheme and only they will be given training in the insurance sector. These women will also be given monthly stipend in different forms for 3 years after training.

Eligibility for Bima Sakhi Scheme
The following rules have been implemented by the government in the Bima Sakhi scheme:-
- Under Bima Sakhi Yojana, mainly women from rural areas are to be made insurance agents.
- In this scheme, only women educated in class 10th or above will be selected.
- Initially only 35000 women will be selected from all the states of the country including the state of Haryana.
- Selected women will be given a monthly salary of ₹ 7000 in the first year of the scheme.
- Apart from this, an amount of ₹ 6000 will be given in the second year and ₹ 5000 in the third and final year.
Budget of Bima Sakhi Scheme
A budget of Rs 100 crore has been released by the Central Government in the initial year of Bima Sakhi Scheme and from this budget, training of 35000 selected women will be completed along with a monthly salary of up to Rs 7000 every month on the basis of insurance. Age limit for Bima Sakhi scheme
Women above 18 years of age have been given eligibility for Bima Sakhi Scheme by the government. Please note that the maximum age limit under the scheme has been limited to 70 years.
