KVS Eligibility Criteria 2025, age limit, post-wise qualification


Kandriya Vidyala Sangathan (KVS) has issued a notice, which has announced about 8977 vacancies for Principal, TGT, PGT, PRT, Vice Principal and other non-teaching posts. Since the registration process will start soon, interested candidates should check the eligibility criteria for each post before the application process starts. KVS Eligibility Criteria 2025

Central Vidyala Sangathan (KVS) recruitment 2025 provides a great opportunity for those who want to teach in government schools. Before re -applying, it is important to understand the eligibility criteria for PGT, TGT or others. This includes age limit, educational qualifications, nationality, efforts and other requirements that should be met to consider for these teaching positions.

KVS age limit 2025

The maximum age limit is different from each other which is applied on the basis of posts. In addition, according to the government’s norms, there is rest for candidates for various categories. Age can range from 5 to 15 years according to the rest category, such as SC/ST, OBC, PWD, etc.

KVS educational qualification for PGT

“PGT” is for post graduate teachers who have completed their postgraduate studies and are eligible to teach class 11th and 12th classes. The post-graduation topics are given below in the table below.

PGT (bio-technology) Necessary:

  • At least 50% marks in any of the following: Master in Biotechnology/Genetics/Microbiology/Life Science/Bioscience/Biochemistry
  • Proficiency in teaching Hindi and English.
Pagi (computer science) Required: Candidates must have one of the following qualifications: At least 50% marks in any of the following:

  • Whether or B.Tech. (Computer Science/ IT) Equivalent Degree or Diploma from a recognized university or from the Government of India recognized by the Government of India/ University.
  • MSc (Computer Science)/ MCA or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • BSc (Computer Science) / BCA or a subject graduate degree in a subject from a recognized university.
  • Graduate diploma in computer and a post graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • ‘B’ level from Doeacc and a post graduate degree in any discipline.
  • ‘C’ level from ‘Doeacc’ of Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and Graduation.
  • Proficiency in teaching Hindi and English.
  • Whether or B.Tech. (Any stream) and a post graduate diploma in computer from a recognized university

KVS educational qualification for TGT

To become a trained graduate teacher (TGT), candidates need to complete some educational qualifications that are mentioned below in the table. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in the subject they want to teach. In addition, you should complete a degree of graduate education (B.Ed.) and candidates will have to clean the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Paper-II or an equivalent State Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).

TGT (P & He) Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in physical education or an equivalent qualification.
TGT (AE) Candidates should have a five -year recognized diploma in drawing and painting, sculpture or graphic art.
TGT (science) Candidates must have studied botany, zoology and chemistry in their bachelor’s degrees.
TGT (Sanskrit) Candidates must have studied Sanskrit as a subject in all three years of their bachelor’s degree.
TGT (not) Candidates must have studied Hindi as a subject in all three years of their bachelor’s degree.
TGT (SST) Candidates must have studied any of the following two subjects: History, Geography, Economics and Political Science. One of the two subjects should be either history or geography.
TGT (mathematics) Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in mathematics with any of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Computer Science, or Statistics.
TGT (Hum) Required: Candidates must have one of the following qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from a recognized university.
  • A three -year diploma after higher secondary in electrical or electronics engineering from a recognized university.

Educational Qualification for KVS PRT

A PRT refers to the primary teacher who specializes in teaching students studying in one to five classes. These teachers lay the foundation for students by teaching basic subjects in the form of mathematics, linguistics, science and use various teaching methods to make learning easier. Below, we have provided eligibility criteria for primary teachers (PRT)

  • Senior Secondary or its equivalent with at least 50% marks and 2 -year diploma in primary education
  • Or, Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) and 4-year graduates of primary education with at least 50% marks (B.Ei.ed.)
  • Or, Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year diploma in education
  • Or, Graduate with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) **
  • Eligible in Central Teacher Eligibility Test (Paper-I) conducted by the government. Of India.
  • Proficiency for teaching through Hindi and English media.
  • Desired : Knowledge of working on computer.
Primary teacher (music) Necessary ,

  • Senior Secondary School Certificate with 50% marks or its equivalent in intermediate with 50% marks or equivalent from a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • The ability to teach through English \ Hindi medium.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of Computer Applications.

KVS Educational Qualification for Principal

The principal is a well -reputed post and is the highest ranking administrator responsible for managing all the functions of school operations. The educational qualification for the principal through KVS is as follows.

Changes in KVS Eligibility Criteria 2025

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has announced some changes in KVS Eligibility Criteria 2025 which are as follows

  • Increased experience for principal: The need for experience for the major condition has increased from 8 years to 12 years. The Vice Principal (VPS) now needs a 3 -year experience.
  • Headmaster’s age required: The minimum age for the headmaster status is now 35 years; Earlier, there was no age limit.
  • LDE seats reduction: The percentage of LDE seats for Headmaster, PGT and TGT has been reduced from 50% to 33.3%.
  • New posts for special teachers: 497 posts for TGT Special Teachers and 494 Post for PRT Special Teachers have been introduced for recruitment
  • Graduate subject for PGT: Graduate subjects now apply to all subjects for PGT recruitment.
  • Age rebate reduction for KVS employees: Age discount for KVS employees has reduced by 5 years.
  • Increased experience for VP: PGT now needs a 6 -year experience to become Vice Principal (VP).
  • Bed. Now mandatory for PGT computer science: Bed. Now PGT computer science is mandatory for candidates.
