According to the criteria of the Government of India, nationality requirements for candidates are as follows.
- Should be an Indian citizen
- Candidates who are Tibetan refugees and have gone to India before 1 January 1962 are also eligible.
- Indian origin which is permanently settled in India, such as Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Kenya, Joint Republic Tanzania and Pakistan are also eligible for sub -inspectors.

The age of the candidates should be between 21 and 28 years for sub-inspectors in UP Police. In addition, candidates of OBC, SC, ST, and similar categories are eligible for age relaxation according to government rules.

Police SI Physical Details and Eligibility 2025
The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has set a physical test, which will be conducted after the written examination. Physical testing includes height, chest and running. UP Police SI Physical Measurement Test (Height and Chest)
Candidates must undergo a physical standard test (PST), including height, chest and weight. Those who do not meet the required standard will be abolished at the same time.

UP Police SI Physical Standard Test (PST)
UPPRPB has set the physical standard test for both men and women. Male candidates will have to complete 4.8 km in 28 minutes, while female candidates need to complete 2.4 km in 16 minutes.

UP Police SI Medical Examination
After cleaning the physical test, the candidates have to undergo medical examinations. Various tests are performed to check the medical fitness for sub-inspectors, as listed below.
- Eye test (night + color blindness)
- For eye light- The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of both eyes without glasses.
- Hearing test for ear
