A clerk can get promoted to the rank of officer in two different ways. One of these methods is the general or seniority method and the other is the merit or fast track method. Under the common/seniority system, an employee has to qualify a written examination to be selected as an officer. For this, JAIIB and CAIIB qualification is not necessary as they are promoted on the basis of their experience and seniority. In the Fast Track/Merit Channel an employee must have a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree, minimum 2 years of experience as a clerk, and should also have JAIIB and CAIIB certification.
