BEL 2025 Probationary Engineer Selection Process

The selection process for BEL Probationary Engineer 2025 consists of two major stages: Computer-Based Test (CBT) and Interview. To be eligible for the post, candidates must qualify both the stages successfully. Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria and their online applications have been accepted will be provisionally shortlisted for CBT.

Stage 1: Computer Based Testing (CBT)

CBT is an important part of the selection process and will be conducted for a duration of 120 minutes. The test consists of 125 questions, divided into two sections: 100 technical questions and 25 general aptitude and reasoning questions. Each question carries 1 mark, and there will be negative marking for wrong answers; 1/4 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The question paper will be available in both English and Hindi. It is essential to perform well in this stage as it plays an important role in the final selection.

Step 2: Interview

After CBT, candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on their performance in the test. Interview stage carries weightage of 15 marks, hence thorough preparation is important. Candidates should aim to score maximum marks in this stage to increase their overall score.

Minimum qualifying marks:

Candidates belonging to General/OBC (NCL)/EWS and ESM categories must obtain at least 35% marks in CBT to be considered for interview. Candidates from SC/ST/PWBD categories need to obtain minimum 30% marks. On the basis of CBT score, candidates will be shortlisted for interview in the ratio of 1:5, with the highest scorers selected first. The weightage for the Computer-Based Test is 85 marks, and the Interview contributes 15 marks to the total score.
