NCTE to resume B.Ed program from 2026


The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has decided to bring back B.Ed one year. And M.Ed. Program after a decade. B.Ed revival. The program is a major innings, and the program is scheduled to take place 10 years after the program for 2 years. This initiative has been taken under the National Education Policy (NEP) and the UGC National Higher Education Qualification Straits.

New B.Ed and MD program structure

This policy is going to help a lot of aspiring teachers, as they will need less time to complete the course. This will also benefit the government, because they will have more teachers and will help in balanced the teacher-student ratio in both the government and private schools. One year M.Ed. The program will be a full -time course, but the working professionals will also have a two -year option to complete their course. The new course is proposed to start from the upcoming academic year, which is 2026-27.

Another reason to re -present a one -year M.Ed. It is not that many candidates were not chasing the MED. Due to its long period. Many seats were vacant in colleges, as students were not taking admission.

Eligibility for 1 year B.Ed Course

Candidates must have either a postgraduate qualification or four -year bachelor’s degree to be eligible for enrollment in one year of graduation education program. For people with a bachelor’s degree of three years, the current two -year -old B.Ed. The program will be available. Therefore, candidates have both options, either one year program or two -year course forward.
