PM free power scheme: A new scheme has been announced by the Prime Minister of our country Narendra Modi. The name of this scheme is ‘PM Surya Ghar: Free Power Plan’. This is a rooftop solar scheme. With this new scheme, 1 crore houses will be provided with the benefit of free electricity. The government is going to invest more than Rs 75,000 crore on this scheme. The goal behind this scheme is to illuminate 1 crore houses by giving free electricity up to 300 units every month.

Under this scheme, beneficiaries will also get the benefit of bank loan at concessional rates. Information was given by the Prime Minister that a national online portal will be created for this, in which all kinds of facilities will be integrated. In a way, this portal will be working like interface. Will be able to take all kinds of facilities in it. To promote this scheme at the grassroots level, urban local bodies and panchayats will be encouraged to promote rooftop solar system in their areas.

Can take advantage of subsidy

Apart from this, the purpose of this scheme is to increase income, reduce electricity bills and create employment opportunities for the people. In such a situation, this is really a commendable step. If you are planning to install a solar panel on the roof of your house, then you can apply for subsidy under Surya Ghar Free Power Scheme. Under the scheme, you will be provided 18 thousand rupees for one kilowatt, 30 thousand rupees up to two kW and total subsidy for 3 kW will be provided 78 thousand rupees. To take advantage of the subsidy, you have to take care that there should not be a load of more than 85 percent.

  • To take advantage of the scheme, no family member should be in a government job.
  • The annual income of the family of the person applying should not be more than one and a half lakh rupees.
