Indira Awas Yojana was started in 1985

This scheme has been brought as a successor to Indira Awas Yojana for people living in kutcha houses. Indira Awas Yojana was started by the government in the year 1985.
The main goal of the scheme is to reduce the number of homeless in India.
Under PMAY-G, families without any shelter, destitute people living on alms, manual scavengers, primitive tribal groups, legally liberated laborers etc. are covered. The scheme aims to improve the lives of economically struggling rural residents across the country. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana works towards reducing the number of homelessness in rural India. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has set a target of building more than 3 crore houses. This scheme is a big effort by the government to increase the standard of living and social stability of vulnerable citizens.

Benefits available under the scheme

- Under this scheme, LPG gas cylinders will be given to the beneficiaries.
