8 new benefits available on BPL ration card
1. Free ration and financial assistance
BPL ration card holders will get free ration every month. Apart from this, they will also be given additional financial assistance of ₹1000 per month. This money will be sent directly to their bank account. This will help families meet their daily needs.
2. Health Insurance Coverage
All BPL ration card holding families will be given free health insurance coverage. Under this insurance, family members will be able to get free treatment in government and some private hospitals. This coverage will be up to Rs 5 lakh per family.
3. Education Assistance
Children from BPL families will be provided free education till post graduation. Apart from this, they will also be given additional financial assistance for books, uniform and stationery. This facility will be applicable in government schools and colleges.
4. Housing Scheme
BPL ration card holding families will be given financial assistance to build houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Assistance will be available up to Rs 2.5 lakh in urban areas and Rs 1.5 lakh in rural areas.
5. Employment Guarantee
Under this scheme, at least one member of BPL families will be given 100 days of guaranteed employment. This will work in tandem with the MGNREGA scheme and provide economic security to the people.
6. Skill Development Training
BPL ration card holders will be given free skill development training. This will give them better employment opportunities and they will be able to increase their income. They will also be given stipend during training.
7. Discount on electricity and water
BPL families will be given up to 50% discount in electricity and water bills. This discount will be applicable on consumption up to a certain unit. This will reduce the monthly expenses of families.
8. One Nation One Ration Card

Eligibility Criteria for BPL Ration Card

- The annual income of the family should be less than Rs 3 lakh in urban areas and Rs 2 lakh in rural areas.
