SSC JHT Syllabus 2024, Tier Wise Exam Pattern, Selection Process


Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially announced SSC Junior Hindi Translator (JHT) Recruitment for 312 vacancies. The objective of the recruitment is to fill the posts like Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translator and Senior Hindi Translator.

The examination for these posts will be conducted in two phases: Tier 1 and Tier 2, with the exam to be conducted in October 2024.

The selection process for SSC JHT 2024 consists of four stages:

Tier 1: Preliminary Written Examination

  • Type: Computer Based Examination
  • Objective: To assess the proficiency of the candidates in General Hindi and General English through multiple choice questions.

Tier 2: Follow-up Written Examination

  • Type: descriptive paper
  • Objective: To evaluate the translation skills of the candidates and their ability to write essays in both Hindi and English.

medical check up: A final medical examination will be conducted to ensure that the candidates meet the health and physical standards required for the posts.

SSC JHT exam pattern

Tier 1 Exam Pattern

  • Type: Computer Based Testing
  • Topics covered: General Hindi and General English
  • number of questions: 100 questions in each section
  • Total Questions:200
  • Duration: 2 hours (extended to 2 hours 40 minutes for PWD candidates who require a scribe)
  • negative marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer

  • Total Questions:4

Syllabus for SSC JHT 2024

Tier 1 Syllabus

General Hindi:

  • grammatical subject: Includes Samas, Sandhi, Kriya, Visheshan, etc.
  • hindi synonyms: Understanding and use of synonyms.
  • hindi paragraph: Comprehension and analysis of Hindi paragraph.
  • hindi proverbs: Knowledge of commonly used Hindi proverbs.
  • not antonyms: Identification and use of antonyms.
  • Hindi Phrases: Understanding and use of Hindi phrases and idioms.
  • hindi understanding: Ability to understand Hindi texts.

general English:

  • Understanding: Reading and understanding paragraphs.
  • fill in the blanks:Complete the sentences with appropriate words.
  • error detection: Identifying grammatical and usage errors.
  • Material: Use of articles (a, an, the).
  • Synonyms:Finding words with similar meaning.
  • actions: Understanding verbs and using them correctly.
  • preposition: Use of prepositions in sentences.
  • spelling test:Correct spelling of words.
  • vocabulary: Expanding and applying vocabulary.
  • undiscovered path: Understanding an unseen path.
  • grammar: Fundamental rules of English grammar.
  • sentence completion and structure: Forming and completing sentences accurately.

SSC JHT Tier 2 Syllabus

Translation:

  • hindi to english translation: To translate a paragraph from Hindi to English.
  • english to hindi translation: To translate a paragraph from English to Hindi.

essay writing:

  • not an essay: Writing an essay in Hindi on a given topic.
  • english essay: Writing an essay in English on a different given topic.

SSC JHT Preparation Tips 2024

  1. Understand the exam pattern: Familiarize yourself with the structure and types of questions for both Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams.
