BPSC Civil Services Syllabus & Exam Pattern 2024

Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) conducts one of the most prestigious state level civil services examinations for various posts like Sub Divisional Officer and Rural Development Officer. BPSC syllabus and exam pattern for 2024 has been detailed in the recent 70th CCE notification. The exam consists of three stages: Prelims, Mains and Interview. Candidates are encouraged to download the syllabus to plan their preparation effectively.

Prelims will have 150 multiple choice questions, covering subjects like General Science, Indian History and Politics, while Mains will have five papers, including General Hindi, two General Studies papers, an essay and an optional subject. To qualify, candidates must pass each stage ensuring a thorough assessment of their knowledge and skills. 70th BPSC Important Notes

common number It is designated as a qualifying paper, which means candidates have to qualify it, but its marks will not be added to the final score.

General Studies Paper 1 And paper 2 Are mandatory for all candidates. These papers will test knowledge of various subjects including history, geography and current affairs.

Both the General Studies papers will follow objective format with multiple choice questions (MCQs). Each paper will be of 100 marks.

BPSC Prelims Exam Pattern

BPSC CCE Prelims Exam will consist of objective type questions with multiple choice questions.

  • This exam will be of 150 marks and will have 150 questions.
  • Each correct answer carries 1 mark.
  • 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • The duration of the exam is 2 hours.

BPSC Mains Exam Pattern 2024

The 70th BPSC Mains Exam Pattern consists of a total of 5 papers: General Hindi (Qualifying), General Studies Paper 1, General Studies Paper 2, Essay and an Optional Subject. Candidates can choose one optional subject from the given list of 34 subjects.

  • The General Hindi paper is qualifying in nature (30% marks are required), and its marks will not be considered in calculating the merit list.
  • Questions in General Studies question papers will be available in both Hindi and English.
  • There is no negative marking in descriptive question papers.
  • Candidates have to attempt all the papers to qualify for the interview round.
  • The exam will be conducted for a total of 1100 marks, but candidates will receive marks out of 900 marks, as the Hindi and optional papers are qualifying in nature.
  • Each exam will be conducted for 3 hours.

BPSC Prelims exam examines the basic understanding of General Knowledge of the candidates. The syllabus of 70th BPSC Prelims Exam covers important topics of General Science, Economy, Politics, History and National Movement. The detailed subjects for preliminary examination are listed below.
