West Bengal SSC recruitment scam: more than 25,753 teaching and non -education workers lose jobs

The Supreme Court has confirmed the Calcutta High Court’s decision to cancel the entire 2016 recruitment panel of the West Bengal School Services Commission (WBSSC). The Supreme Court has described the West Bengal School Services Commission (WBSSC) recruitment scam as “systemic fraud”. The court found that the process of hiring was filled with corruption, which made it difficult to tell who was chosen correctly and who was not. This means that more than 25,753 teachers and non-teaching staff have lost their jobs.

The state government has been asked to start a new recruitment process within three months. Those who were not involved in any wrongdoing can apply again. Those who lose their jobs, they have to return the salary received. In addition, people who leave other government jobs to join the WBSSC can return to their old positions if they apply within three months. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will continue the investigation of the case, and the Supreme Court has also allowed an inquiry into the state cabinet.

The Supreme Court has canceled the appointments of more than 25,000 teaching and non-teaching staff conducted by the West Bengal School Services Commission (WBSSC) in 2016, cited as comprehensive fraud and manipulation in the selection process. The court has directed the state government to start a new recruitment process within three months. Individuals who were not involved in any misconduct are allowed to re -apply. Additionally, on humanitarian grounds, the court has allowed disabled employees to maintain their current positions.
